Job Summary

The Maintenance Superintendent leads a team of Maintenance Supervisors, driving building and equipment maintenance across the plant. The role develops strategies to minimize mechanical downtime and keep production lines running, directly impacting operational efficiency. The Superintendent spearheads the development and implementation of maintenance systems — Preventive and Predictive Maintenance, TPM, and more — and continuously improves maintenance processes plant-wide.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Own the maintenance systems to drive peak performance and minimize costs.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis, Reliability-Centered Maintenance, and TPM to keep the plant at maximum capacity.
  • Schedule work, reduce unscheduled downtime, and boost efficiency while cutting costs.
  • Lead and inspire the maintenance team through delegation, planning, and organizing.
  • Lead plant safety — enforce policies and procedures and promote a safety culture compliant with federal and state regulations.
  • Serve as the go-to problem solver for day-to-day operational challenges; provide quick, effective solutions to equipment failures and prevent recurring problems.
  • Partner with the Plant Engineer to design and manage a top-tier Preventive and Predictive Maintenance program using the SAP PM Module.
  • Analyze program data and continuously improve processes to keep equipment in optimal condition.
  • Track and report maintenance KPIs across all areas — equipment reliability, supplier performance, OEE, and more.
  • Lead continuous-improvement efforts so the maintenance function operates at its highest potential.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience — required.
  • Food manufacturing experience.
  • Maintenance supervisory experience.
  • Experience acting as a lead — training, coaching, or mentoring less-experienced staff, or managing a process or project.
  • Advanced technical skills in the mechanical/electrical fields (PLCs, instrumentation, mechanical engineering).
  • Ability to lead resource-planning efforts in a large manufacturing environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of world-class maintenance management systems, work-order processes, preventive/predictive maintenance, and TPM.
  • Strong critical-thinking, problem-solving, organizational, teamwork, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; knowledge of Microsoft Office and well versed in SAP.
  • May be required to work long hours and weekends.
  • Preferred: presentation skills.

Internal note — not for posting

This is a SUPERINTENDENT role — it leads a team of Maintenance Supervisors. The JD requires maintenance supervisory experience; it does NOT require prior experience managing other supervisors. Treat ‘supervised leaders’ as a preferred signal / search refinement, not a client requirement.

Food-manufacturing experience required; meat a plus.

Strong maintenance supervisory background required; SAP (PM Module) is specifically called out — weight SAP experience.

3 Maintenance Superintendent openings total.

Relocation: confirm — listed as open on the hot-jobs sheet.

Comp note: bonus is a FLAT-RATE bonus (not a % target) — state it that way; confirm the dollar figure with the client.

Submission standard is near-perfect match only — screen against these notes, not just the posted JD.
